As a Senior Software Engineer at CatalystOne, you will join one of our product teams and contribute to building, evolving, and operating critical parts of our HCM platform. This is not a role tied to a specific module. You may work on different domains over time, depending on business needs and where your strengths create the most value.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you are a hands-on developer with strong technical judgment. You take ownership of solutions end to end and contribute to both delivery and technical direction within your team.

You will primarily work with backend services, but you are comfortable collaborating across the stack when needed. You influence through code, discussions, and good engineering practices rather than formal authority.

What You’ll Do

Build and Deliver

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot

• Build and evolve REST APIs that power core product functionality

• Write production-quality code with a strong focus on correctness, security, and maintainability

• Use agentic AI to great effect to maximise output whilst maintaining quality

• Contribute to frontend codebases when needed using React and TypeScript

Quality and Operability

• Write unit and integration tests and care about test coverage that actually matters

• Participate actively in code reviews and raise the quality bar for the team

• Take responsibility for performance, reliability, and observability of the services you work on

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation to keep delivery fast and safe

Collaboration and Technical Leadership

• Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers in a cross‑functional team

• Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture decisions

• Mentor other engineers through pairing, reviews, and everyday collaboration

• Help shape and improve engineering practices across teams

Who You Are

• A senior engineer who enjoys writing clean, well-structured code

• Comfortable owning parts of a system and following them into production

• Pragmatic about trade‑offs, but with high standards for quality and clarity

• Able to communicate technical decisions clearly and constructively

• Curious, collaborative, and happy to contribute where it helps the team most

Experience and Skills

Must have

• Solid experience building backend systems in Java with Spring Boot or similar frameworks

• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs

• Good understanding of relational databases and data modeling

• Experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams

• Experience using AI-assisted developer tools

Nice to have

• Experience with React and TypeScript

• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure

• Interest in observability, performance tuning, and operational excellence
